Hi All,
So this week my 10 year old began an archery class, just for fun. Archery is a sport that really requires single sided dominance since you can only really use one eye and one arm, and they need to be the same. The problem is that my child has a very strong right hand dominance and strong left eye, which means that the archery is a struggle of not focusing well or not having enough arm power/control for the bow.
We were aware of the cross dominance, have done c&c, but not for over a year. A number of issues she was having have worked themselves out, but not this one. When we went to FHC, we were told to do a ton of cartwheels to increase single sided dominance. The problem is that we don't know which side to choose. She is also right eared, but left footed. I am inclined to go to the right, because of her hand, but her dad is lefty and I don't want to choose wrong.
So far, we have restarted creeping and crawling. Is there something else I can do to help her to develop a strong 1-side preference? The archery has really motivated my child to c&c, because she is really feeling the struggle that results from her cross dominance.
Thanks! _________________ DD's 12 and 10
